He is an Oglala Sioux Tribal member, and is particularly interested in addressing water quality issues on Indigenous lands. His masters thesis focused on quantifying controls of arsenic and uranium dissolution into the Arikaree aquifer on the Pine Ridge Reservation, which many people rely on as their domestic water source.
