Dr. Mattos is an environmental scientist, engineer, and community engagement specialist with over a decade of experience working on the intersecting goals of environmental protection, human wellbeing, and community resilience. Her current research involves designing and evaluating mid-tech and alternative infrastructure to implement more sustainable approaches to community development. This includes figuring out new water and wastewater systems that can improve health and wellbeing in rural communities and looking at green infrastructure approaches to improve natural resource management.
